Rabat – The major new housing projects that the government aims to launch in the field of housing are targeted at recently-married Moroccan couples, said Mohamed Nabil Benabdallah, Minister of Housing and Urbanism on Tuesday.
In response to a question about the “real estate crisis in Morocco” during the oral questions session of the House of Advisors, Benabdallah highlights a number of housing projects to be launched, including a housing project for young newly-wed couples.
The minister denied that there is a crisis of housing in Morocco, but he mentioned that the government seeks to launch a study about low-cost housing for the lower class and housing projects for citizens unable to own a residence.
Benabdallah, who was appointed in March for the second time as the Minister of Housing and Urbanism, added that the government is also determined to launch housing projects for the middle class.
With regard to housing in the rural areas, Benabdallah said that the ministry will simplify the required bureaucratic measures and conditions on housing designs while abiding by legal regulations to present illegal development in villages.
